Frequently asked questions
Do all TPA students get to perform?
Yes! We offer free trials for new and existing students. However, we can not offer trials for classes that have an extensive waitlist.
Does TPA offer casual classes?
TPA classes are term by term. If you would like to try a class, please book in for a free trial. However, when you enrol, you are committing to a whole term or if you're joining part way through, the remainder of the term.
How do we join TPA?
Joining TPA is easy! Just click the button at the top of our website, choose your class, and select either "enrol" or "trial"—that’s it! Our studios are in Leederville. Once registered, arrive 5 minutes early and check in on one of our iPads. After your trial, simply return to our website or app to enrol.
Do all students get to perform?
At The Production Academy, all students have the chance to perform throughout the year in a variety of ways. Our Troupe classes (no audition required) give enrolled students the opportunity to be selected for shows, festivals, and competitions. We also stage an annual Musical Theatre season, open to all young performers by audition. Plus, there's an optional end-of-year showcase for all students—encouraged but not compulsory.
How much does TPA cost?
Our standard classes are charged at a rate of $17 for 45 minutes. If you take multiple classes, we do offer class capping at $990 per term.
Does TPA have a uniform?
All students are encouraged to wear activewear to class and TPA tshirts are compulsory. Suitable footwear -please no slippers, Crocs or slides is required.
How do we become part TPA's agency?
You will need a professional headshot (if you don't have one, we can sort for you) and simply fill in the form here
How does TPA determine class level?
TPA classes are organised by school year. Some classes combine age groups to accommodate performance needs that require a range of ages for different roles. Other classes are divided more specifically:
Preschoolers: Not yet in school or currently in kindergarten
Juniors: Pre-Primary to Grade 3
Intermediates: Grades 3–6
Seniors: High school students
Industry classes and workshops are based on content; please refer to individual class descriptions for details.
